Where can I use the enLux LED Floodlight?

The enLux LED Floodlight is UL, CE, and C-Tick approval for both indoor and outdoor use. In outdoor settings, water must be prevented from contacting the electrical socket, either by aiming the light downward or by using a rubber seal. Water will have no effect on the fins or glass lens. The LED light engine is sealed to protect it from water damage.

What types of fixtures can I use with the enLux LED Floodlight?

In indoor settings, the enLux LED Floodlight can be used in track lighting, open ended recessed cans, hanging pendants, ceiling fans, and many directional fixtures for use in wall washing and accent lighting. In outdoor settings, the enLux LED Floodlights can be used in many security lighting or flood lighting fixtures, down-lighting, up-lighting (socket protected by rubber seal), wall washing, and accent lighting fixtures.

Topˆ

What restrictions are there in using the enLux LED Floodlight?

The enLux LED Floodlight must be used in an open air, or near open air setting. Settings such as exposed track lighting, hanging pendants, and many exposed outdoor fixtures are all recommended uses. However, the enLux LED Floodlight can not be used in a totally enclosed fixture, such as a glass globe, or floor lights covered by glass. The reason for these restrictions is due to heat buildup in the enclosure. If the air becomes too hot, the light will overheat and reduce its light output, and shorten its life.

Are the enLux LED Floodlights dimmable?

Yes, the enLux LED Floodlights are dimmable with either a reverse phase control dimmer or a continuous control (sine wave) dimmer. We have a White Paper on Dimmers and a List of Dimmers on the Data Sheet and Spec page.

Is the light from the Warm White LED Floodlight identical to incandescent light?

Not exactly. There may be some small differences in the tone of the light. Also, colors in objects lit by LED light will appear more vibrant. Reds, blues, and greens will appear more vivid. This often enhances the mood of a room or artwork. In some cases, users may not wish to have more vibrant colors, but by blending incandescent light with LED light, a gentle balance can be reached.

Topˆ

What if I do not like the LED Floodlights, can I return them?

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. Within 30 days of your purchase, if you are not satisfied, you may either exchange them for a different style of light, or return the lights for a full refund (not including shipping charges). Simply submit a “contact us” form and describe the problem, and an enLux representative will promptly respond with a RMA number to return the light. enLux does not charge a restocking fee for returned items. Unfortunately, shipping fees cannot be refunded.

Topˆ

What if the LED Floodlight is broken during shipping?

This is highly unlikely. The enLux LED Floodlights have survived drops from 9 feet in the air onto concrete. As long as the delivery truck does not run over the package, we are quite sure your order will arrive safely.

Topˆ

Is the enLux Floodlight guaranteed against vibration?

Yes, vibration will not affect the life of the enLux LED Floodlights. If an enLux LED Floodlight should fail within the warranty period, return it for a replacement.

Topˆ

Is the enLux Floodlight guaranteed against drops and hard strikes?

Well, let’s be reasonable. It is extremely durable, but not indestructible. If a returned Floodlight shows signs of damage, we will not be able to provide a free replacement.

Topˆ

The fins look cool, do they serve another purpose?

The primary purpose for the fins is for cooling. LEDs are semiconductor based, which means that they must be kept “cool” in order to have a long life, just like the CPU in your computer. The fins provide a large surface area, from which excess heat is “convected” or absorbed by the air. The technical term for this process is called natural convection.

Topˆ

Does the color of the fin make a difference?

No, the fin color does not make an difference to the light output. We offer several fin colors for you to choose that will work best with you application and fixture. You may want the light to blend in with the fixture or background; or you may want to make a bold statement and use contrasting color.

Topˆ

Does the Floodlight get hot?

Hot is a relative term. Arizona summers are hot, and the sun is hot, but there is quite a difference between them. Incandescent bulbs get hot enough to burn your skin (first or second degree burn depending on how long you are in contact with it). Halogen bulbs are hotter, and likely to give a second or third degree burn. The enLux LED Floodlights are best described as warm to uncomfortably warm. They will not burn your fingers, and could be touched when still on (enLux always recommends that the power is turned off when changing lights).

Topˆ

But I thought that LEDs have no heat.

This is a common misperception. LEDs are more efficient than incandescent lights, which mean that more light is produced (or less energy is wasted as heat). Many people do not realize that there is heat given off from small LEDs, but this is because so little power is used. Low power, low light output, low heat (almost imperceptible). But the enLux LED Floodlight typical uses 15W of power to create enough light for general illumination, and a portion of this energy is given off as heat.

Topˆ

Just how long is 50,000 hours?

50,000 hours lit for 24 hours per day will last over 5 and a half years.
50,000 hours lit for 12 hours per day will last for over 11 years.
50,000 hours lit for 8 hours per day will last for over 17 years.
50,000 hours lit for 4 hours per day will last for over 34 years.

Topˆ

Is there a European version (operates at 220V - 240V AC)?

Yes, enLux has a 220V AC version of the enLux LED Floodlight and Spotlight which operates within a range of 205-250V AC.

Topˆ

Where can the OutdoorArea Light be used?

The enLux 6K LED OutdoorArea Light is perfect for all kinds of outdoor applications, from parks to walkways, parking lots to parking garages, playgrounds to security lighting.

Topˆ

Is enLux working on any other products?

Absolutely, but there are too many to mention here. LED lighting is broadly seen as the future of lighting. enLux engineers are hard at work to bring the benefits of LED lighting to a multitude of applications. Check our website periodically for new products.
