LED Advantage

LED is heralded as the future of lighting by those in the industry and is expected to eventually replace incandescent light.  The U.S. Department of Energy hopes to reduce the electricity used for lighting by 50% by converting to LED based light sources.

Here are some of the general advantages of using LED light instead of incandescent light:

• LEDs are capable of emitting color of any wavelength on their own including red, green, blue and amber, while incandescent requires the use of color filters.
• LEDs are durable and difficult to break thanks to the solid-state technology, while incandescent is extremely fragile and breaks easily.
• LEDs have an extremely long life span when compared to incandescent – in many cases they last twenty times longer.
• LEDs consume less energy than incandescent lights.
